This course offers both theoretical fundamentals and practical experience in producing text stories for a variety of digital and print platforms. Critical consideration of news values, conventions of news writing and interviewing, and the power of language will enable students to create and refine text content for cross-platform use. Advanced analysis and practical exercise in pace, length and focus will create the foundation for distinctive journalistic writing and editing skills employed to create work on deadline. Using interpersonal communication skills within a team environment, students learn to adeptly engage the full range of story elements to produce effective news presentations across all forms of media expression and receive professional and peer feedback on their work.
