In long form journalism students write and produce more and varied content to tell a story. Students combine well-researched, in-depth analysis and feature storytelling skills with the opportunity for to apply discipline-specific knowledge. They will collaborate, assuming editorial and production roles, for the purpose of prototyping magazine development and other multimedia content with an emphasis on editing, research, and fact checking. Learners will discuss the importance of a distinctive voice and personal brand as a feature writer and developing brand recognition of the digital publication. The curriculum will challenge students to employ new techniques to connect with and get to know the reader and utilize strategies to deliver content that compels readers to actively seek new information from the publication.
