In this advanced data journalism course students will be mapping, charting, graphing and applying basic html coding skills to prepare for an industry where detailed infographics often complement and at times replace traditional content. Students learn advanced strategies for accessing and mining data as a means to identify and produce investigative, in-depth multiplatform story items. They will also be introduced to tools and strategies to fix inaccurate or incomplete data. Performance outcomes include the application of knowledge translation and mobilization strategies to create data visualizations, maps and innovative ways to tell and show a story.
