This course continues to build upon the online journalism skills learned in first year in JRNL 219. In addition to honing the ability to produce text and video pieces for the Internet, students will learn how to convey information online using alternative story forms, including mapping, data visualization and social media aggregation. Students will learn basic html and WordPress and launch a personal journalism blog to showcase their work at Humber and network with industry professionals. Students will also study the use of newsletters, social media content distribution and responsible engagement. As a group, the class will build and run a self-hosted WordPress website to showcase material produced in JRNL 400.
