Advanced Newspaper

This course is last in a series designed to provide students with the theoretical and practical knowledge necessary to produce a newspaper, both print and online. The course is taught as a lab in the newsroom. Students will work to deadline, editing copy on Macintosh computers and placing and manipulating electronic and electronically scanned images using QuarkXPress and Photoshop software. Students will also write editorial and opinion pieces, news and features, headlines and cutlines. Students will assume management positions as editors-in-chief, managing editors, section editors, senior reporters, copy editors, online editors, photo editors or art directors.
