With growth and development threatening to overtake the green space in cities, students explore the value and benefits of green roofs, green walls and facades (storm water management, water conservation), growing trees in the urban environment, urban agriculture and sustainable design. The ecological benefits of growing plants to provide clean air, lower temperatures, conserve water and produce food helps students develop a sense of social responsibility and community involvement.
