Private Lesson 1: Trumpet

This course is a series of one-on-one lessons on a student's major instrument (guitar, bass, piano, drums, trumpet, saxophone, trombone, clarinet, flute, voice or other). It consists of a weekly one-hour lesson designed for each student according to his or her individual needs. The student is instructed in all areas pertaining to his or her instrument, including tone production, technique, time feel, reading, phrasing, improvisation, musicality and ensemble performance. At the end of the first year, students must take a Showcase Jury performance exam that incorporates relevant repertoire and techniques and is evaluated by a panel of faculty members. The showcase is comprised of fifteen memorized tunes. Individual instrument areas may have additional requirements.
