This course is a series of one-on-one lessons on a student's major instrument. It consists of a weekly one-hour lesson designed for each student according to his or her individual needs. The student is instructed in all areas pertaining to his or her instrument, including tone production, technique, time feel reading, phrasing, improvisation, musicality and ensemble performance. This course informs artistic and aesthetic decisions that the student makes during the conceptual stages and execution of a final fifty-five minute recital that occurs as part of the complimentary course, Creative Development II
