Course Code: MCSC 6501
Academic Year: 2026-2027
The cloud computing model is based on the sharing of compute, storage, and networking resources. The risk to data availability, confidentiality, and integrity increases when data is transmitted, stored, and accessed through a shared infrastructure. This course explores the concept of virtualization and data and client security on cloud computing development and implementation. Through a mix of theoretical learning and hands-on projects, students will design and implement security solutions that address the domain of cloud computing complexities. Utilizing industry-standard guidelines (NIST) and processes, students will identify, investigate, and mitigate security threats within the cloud infrastructure. Case studies and current industry tools will provide practical insights to monitor cloud storage and network infrastructure. By the end of the course, students will be prepared to develop strategies to determine both preventative and post threat correction necessary to secure data in the cloud platform.
