Students demonstrate a critical understanding of the communications needs of an organization and the content needs of its web site. They write for specific audiences, to specific purposes, through specific media. The students research, write, design and edit promotional and informational materials (fundraising letters and e-blasts) for corporate and not-for-profit organizations. As freelance writers, they create focused, distinctive blogs and write short articles for online trade magazines, newsletters, community newspapers, or a venue of their choosing. Throughout, students adhere to the requirements of all good writing: proper grammar and syntax, supported opinion, verifiable fact, thorough research, and engaging voice.
