Students demonstrate a critical understanding of the communications needs of an organization and the content needs of its website. They write for specific audiences, for specific purposes, through specific media. The students research, write, design and edit promotional and informational materials (fundraising letters, e-blasts) for corporate and not-for-profit organizations. As freelance writers, they create focused, distinctive blogs and podcasts. Throughout the course, students are expected to meet the requirements of effective writing, which include employing proper grammar and syntax, presenting supported opinions, using verifiable facts, and conducting thorough research, while maintaining an engaging voice.
