Students learn the principles and laws of thermodynamics and heat transfer. In addition, students are introduced to the applications of thermal cycles and design principles of mechanical thermal systems. They calculate the heating and cooling loads for spaces. This constitutes the basis for learning about the renewable energy systems and the related applications.
