Course Code: MENG 2000
Academic Year: 2023-2024
This course introduces principles and analysis techniques for DC and AC electric circuits. Concepts such as voltage, current, power are introduced. Students examine the basic components such as resistors, capacitors, inductors, power sources and transformers, and build and test various circuits. Students apply Ohm's Law, Kirchhoff's laws, Superposition Theorem, Thvenin's and Norton's Theorems, Maximum Power Transfer Theorem to analyze the circuits. Steady state and transient circuit behavior and practical applications of circuit analysis are covered. Introduction to 3-Phase Systems, Lead-Lag Networks, Filters, Resonance. The laboratory portion of this course trains students in the operation of electronics test instruments.
