An understanding of the keyboard is a foundational tool for all avenues and career paths in music. This course offers music students an opportunity to familiarize themselves with the keyboard. This course introduces the non-keyboard major to the piano and/or deepens the experience for those with previous keyboard/comping backgrounds. They learn to identify notes, major key centers, intervals, and chords on the piano for the purpose of accompaniment. Basic keyboard knowledge and facility assist students with aural and theoretical concepts covered in other courses.
