The course introduces the beginner to the basic theories of colour and the art of painting. Students will gain an understanding of the nature of our sight, the use of light logic and colour theory through demonstrations, and exposure to historical and contemporary examples of painting. Students theoretical knowledge will be solidified by the practical application of in-class exercises; painting applications, techniques and methodology will be explored thoroughly. The development of a technical facility in painting will provide the student with a structure for future creative exploration and experimentation.
