This course focuses on the artistic/esthetic aspects of the jazz orchestra. A professional level ensemble, the advanced Big Band, is the number one recruiting profile vehicle for the Humber College Jazz Studies program. It performs numerous times each semester off campus, often featuring internationally known guest artists such as Guido Basso, Rob McConnell, Steve Houghton, Ingrid Jensen, Pat LaBarbera, Phil Nimmons, Darmon Meader, etc., and at special concerts and radio broadcasts and endeavors to perform commissioned works, specifically by Canadian composers.
