This course introduces various software and hardware tools and techniques pertaining to music production. Students are introduced to contemporary methods of editing, recording, mixing and post-production with particular emphasis on the Pro Tools digital audio workstation. In addition, students are introduced to the fundamentals of room acoustics, mixing, critical listening, audio codecs and MIDI. Upon completion of the course, students will be empowered to communicate their musical ideas and expectations to production personnel. Students will also be capable of taking on some production responsibilities themselves, particularly editing.
