Directed Study 2: Recording Project

The Directed Study course is comprised of a series of studio sessions (two this term plus a mastering session) and regular consultations with a faculty member. By the end of the fourth year of the program, students submit an EP of recorded music that showcases the culmination of their musical abilities in performance, composition and arranging, and music production. The student functions as principal Artist on the EP which showcases their talents as a bandleader while working with other musicians and a professional recording engineer. In addition, each student is the Producer of one of their colleague's final projects. In this role, they assist the Artist with the organizational, scheduling, and production tasks related to their recording.
