Students select and use test procedures, prepare the cable for various types of environments and install fibre-optic or copper cables as a backbone in an outside plant, including labeling and dressing to the termination points. Students also prepare, terminate and splice optical-fibre and copper cables in an outside plant. The course includes planning and installing grounding, bonding and protection systems in an outside plant. Proper aerial and underground pathway installation are determined.
