This course builds on the foundational knowledge of the Police Powers course and will focus on police governance and accountability issues related to the Comprehensive Ontario Police Services Act, 2019, Special Investigations Unit, police complaints, and labour issues. The course will delve into the use of force model, laws, and other legal issues related to the use of force will be discussed. Students will examine theory related to officer safety in real-world applications as it relates to policing.
