This course will expand on the key practices in Pharmacy Dispensing Lab 1, including more intensive practice with various pharmacy computer software programs. Skills for client and health team members' interactions will be increased through practice and role playing sessions in the lab. Students will also gain practical and extensive experience in extemporaneous compounding. This will include preparing a variety of non-sterile internal and external liquids, suspensions, capsules, ointments and creams and dispensing extemporaneous prescriptions. Accuracy in calculations, weighing and measuring chemicals and accurate completion of records are emphasized. Students will demonstrate an understanding of the processes of compounding and the use of related equipment and instruments as well as related documentation requirements.
