This course fulfills the recommendation of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission for all Canadian students of law to study the history of Aboriginal Peoples' engagement with the laws of Canada. Accordingly students will examine and discuss the history and legacy of residential schools, the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, Indigenous law, and Aboriginal-Crown relations. Students will develop competencies in intercultural communications, conflict resolution, and antiracism action.
