This course will examine the fundamentals of principled negotiations from an interests-based perspective. Through multiple group role-plays students will develop negotiation skills that enable them to effectively deal with conflict and create value-added solutions. By working through different scenarios, students will experience how to use objective criteria, set a reservation point, and identify the best alternative to a negotiated settlement. The ethical considerations and legal issues of the different forms of alternative dispute resolution are emphasized.
