This course provides students with the skills to conduct legal research of statutes, regulations and case law utilizing industry specific online databases. Students will become experienced with the primary and secondary resources used in legal research and utilizing them systematically to achieve effective research results. The importance of the doctrine of stare decisis, and the need for noting up case law and updating statute law are emphasized and reinforced with in-depth research assignments. Students learn how to utilize organizational models and general rules of style in the preparation of a legal memorandum and other forms of legal writing.
