Conflict and Stress Management

This course focuses on dynamics of conflict, stress, and the interaction between conflict and stress in the fields of private and public security. Students will be introduced to the concepts and practices of resolving conflict within the criminal justice context. Students will learn to apply conflict-resolution principles at the individual and institutional levels. Particular emphasis will be placed on conflict de-escalation and the use of force model. An extensive study of stress indicators, the negative impact of stress on human health, and stress-reduction techniques to assist in dealing with personal and work stressors will also be undertaken.
