Conflict and Stress Management

This course focuses on dynamics of conflict, stress, and the interaction between conflict and stress in the fields of private and public security. Students will be introduced to the concepts and practices of resolving conflict within the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police (CACP) National Use of Force Framework. Through case studies and role-play students will learn about effective communication and multicultural awareness principles at the individual and institutional levels. Particular emphasis will also be placed on learning about Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) among security professionals and the public. An extensive study of the current trends around addressing mental health will also be undertaken.
