Leaders and decision-makers in the public and private law enforcement sectors increasingly rely on crime analysis to effectively and efficiently distribute limited crime-control resources. In this course, students use crime analysis methodologies, including hotspot analysis, trend analysis, and crime pattern analysis. Theoretical lessons are paired with practical, lab-based software exercises using state-of-the-art crime analysis software. Students explore examples and applications of crime analysis methods in the traditional policing sector as well as the corporate sector.
