This foundational course introduces core professional writing skills and also reinforces, and polishes, grammatical and composition proficiencies that students have already developed in their bachelor's degrees: students explore the ways in which professional writing departs from academic writing in voice, tone, style and form. This course introduces students to new concepts such as audience analysis, plain language usage, accessible communication strategies and professional writing forms. Additionally, students engage in the critical analysis of media stories and their outlets in order to increase awareness of the media landscape.
