Storytelling and Narrative

Storytelling is at the heart of all professional communications. This course incorporates journalistic principles to teach students how to recognize compelling narratives and build nonfiction pieces. Students learn how to use narrative techniques such as story arc, scene and structure to create memorable content for a variety of organizations and media outlets. Additionally, students learn how to pitch narrative pieces to internal and external editors and learn how to repurpose stories through various writing forms. They also practice revising their own work and learn to work collaboratively as peer editors.
