This course guides students in exploring the many paths of the professional writer. Students examine job postings and skills descriptions and begin to discuss career development issues. A unit on freelancing helps students develop a personal brand and encourages them to think like entrepreneurs about their careers. Every student develops a digital portfolio that showcases their own evolving professional identity; the portfolio becomes the online home for the writing samples and projects they create in the program. Through building the digital portfolio, students learn the basics of how to navigate a content management system. They also work on polishing their online presences on professional networking platforms.
