This course introduces students to the Canadian Health Care System and the role of the Respiratory Therapist within that system. The Canadian system is compared to systems from other countries. Diverse healthcare models such as primary care, palliative care and long-term care are discussed. Topics of concern to the Respiratory Therapist such as professional relations and behaviour, professional associations, maintaining practice competency, communication, documentation and legal standards are addressed.
