This course provides both the theoretical basis and hands-on training for pharmacology and provides hands-on training for the use and administration of pharmacologic agents in the practice of respiratory therapy. Emphasis is placed on agents used in cardiopulmonary management of patients. General knowledge is gained regarding bronchodilators, corticosteroids, vasoactive and anesthetic agents, antibiotics and diuretics. Medications are discussed for their indications/contraindications, mode of action, dosage and administration route, onset and duration of action, therapeutic effects and side/toxic effects. General clinical administration knowledge is gained regarding bronchodilators, corticosteroids and vasoactive agents.
