This course provides an in-depth study of the basis and rationale behind the testing and diagnosis of pulmonary disorders that lead to treatment. Emphasis is placed on invasive and non-invasive pulmonary diagnostic procedures and equipment. Paramount in this course is learning to obtain a blood sample for arterial blood gases analysis through an arterial puncture or to draw from an arterial indwelling catheter, performing a bedside spirometry and many other procedures.
