This course focuses on the principles and practices of mechanical ventilation. It will explore foundational concepts related to the initiation, maintenance, and weaning of patients from mechanical ventilation. Emphasis is placed on understanding and applying basic ventilator settings tailored to various lung conditions. Students will also learn physiological effects and complications of mechanical ventilation on the human body. Lab components involve the use of a high-fidelity mannequin, and the latest in the industry ventilators. Interpretation of graphs as seen on capnography and on the mechanical ventilators are paramount in this course.
