Society and Conflict

Course Code: SOCI 234

Academic Year: 2024-2025

This course will adopt a sociological perspective to examine and provide a coherent analysis of the Canadian social, economic, and political environment in a context this both current and within the experience of most college students. Course material will provide a somewhat unique introduction to the analysis of contemporary Canadian society by focusing on both the roots of modern societies and the current socio-political economy of Canada. In order to accomplish this we will use our 'sociological imagination' to connect the social world tour own lived experiences. An emphasis on change will allow you to understand the interplay between structure and agency, and help you make sense of their role in society.
