This course is designed as a speaker series that sets out to provide students with insight into five identified special sport-related topics, including 1&2) sociology in sport (with a specific focus on the opportunities, challenges and nuances of Parasport and Aboriginal sport in Canada); 3) sport marketing (organizational tactics in social and digital media); 4) analytics in sport (data analysis and decision-making in sport business); and 5) professional sport (industry trends and entry level opportunities). Each special topic engages students in self-directed online learning, highlighted by in-class guest speakers and subject matter experts to make the topics come alive.
