This course provides students with a practical understanding of the sport bidding and hosting process and the procedures used in planning and executing sport events. Using several different sports, and sporting event case studies, students are provided with a comprehensive overview of sport hosting from both a tourism and management perspective. Students also examine how to plan and execute a successful sport event and develop and implement their own event concept to apply this understanding. Classroom material is delivered using a variety of methods to simulate the event planning process, including lectures, case studies, discussion, and seminar formats.
