Students examine the fundamentals of client centered concepts and of the spirit of motivational interviewing. Through case-based scenarios and simulated client interactions, students learn the core listening skills of motivational interviewing and strategies to assist clients in their ability to decide, plan and implement health behavior changes. Motivational Interviewing works within the present and seeks to support clients in self-determination and decision making that is consistent with client's personal values and goals.
