The emphasis of Clinical Skills 2 is on TCM diagnosis, jurisprudence and safety with a focus on the psychomotor skills required in the clinical setting. Students apply knowledge of TCM theory, acupuncture techniques, tui na and auxiliary modalities (cupping, gua sha, electrostimulation, moxibustion) in a supervised clinical practice setting. With direct patient contact, students develop compassionate and respectful therapeutic relationships with patients and develop treatment plans in a safe and competent manner. They perform TCM and standardized medical assessment techniques on patients to create a TCM diagnosis, differentiate the TCM syndromes, develop treatment principles, create a treatment plan, provide acupuncture and tui na treatment and monitor the treatment outcomes. Students develop professional and ethical behaviour using professional communication, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills in everyday practice.
