Students apply their knowledge, skills and judgment to demonstrate readiness to enter the TCM profession. During this final practicum, students make TCM diagnoses and apply the full scope of TCM treatments including acupuncture, herbal medicine and auxiliary modalities in the areas of TCM internal medicine, external medicine, gynaecology and paediatrics independently and safely. The emphasis in this internship is the full integration of the TCM assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning and treatment delivery while building therapeutic relationships with patients and prioritizing patient outcomes. Students adhere to safe practice guidelines, including Aseptic Needling Procedure, professional ethics, and risk management. When in direct patient contact, students practice incorporating all of these components into clinical practice. At the end of the practicum, students successfully demonstrate the knowledge, skills and judgement required for practicing TCM herbology and acupuncture independently.
