In this course students will learn to identify furniture components, and how to approach restyling a piece through upholstery methods, fabric choices, and historical research. Students will reupholster a Louis style chair and will be exposed to various upholstery techniques. Basic repairs and reinforcement will be discussed and applied as required. Greebles are employed to create the illusion of intricacy in a prop. Students will provide visual research for an assigned prop requiring the use of greebles. Students are encouraged to brainstorm the build within groups before executing it solo and will receive feedback on their final design before execution. Students will have the opportunity to critique all their work on stage under theatrical lighting.
