According to the UNWTO, the tourism sector has experienced six decades of virtually uninterrupted growth and all indications suggest this trend will continue unabated. This introductory course examines the many sectors of the tourism industry by exploring key terminology, facts and trends in each of these key sectors. Students will also be introduced to career outlooks and opportunities throughout the tourism industry through several guest speakers. In addition, this course will also introduce students to college skills, policies and strategies to ensure their continued success throughout the tourism management program. This course includes a mandatory field trip that will cost approximately $50. The date of the trip will be announced in class.
