This course introduces students to various business practices and accounting principles used in the retail sector of the Tourism Industry. Through course work, students will relate concepts of mathematics to industry applications, interpret and apply travel and accounting terminology and review financial documents used by businesses to produce profitable sales. Additionally, students will gain insight into the business of selling travel insurance and the related legal implication to Ontario Travel Law. This course includes an online component which introduces the students to the key functions of Microsoft excel. This introductory course develops the foundations and skills required for more advanced courses in the tourism - travel services management program.
