This course introduces students to the fundamentals of the cruise industry, one of the fastest growing segments in the global tourism industry. Using a practical approach, students will explore the various cruise regions throughout the world, target markets, profiles of the cruise lines, tourism patterns, cruise sales/marketing, cruise versus land vacations, and careers opportunities. Cruise vacations offer a plethora of options to the consumer and it is essential that tourism professionals understand the unique selling strategies within this sector of the travel industry. Through readings, research, lectures, discussions and review of various selling tools, students will develop the essential cruise industry knowledge and skills to successfully sell and promote cruise vacations.
