An essential step toward visual expression as an artist is finding a unique, creative voice to tell your side of the story. This introductory course provides a guided exploration into the expressive potential of various traditional media and substrates in illustration. It will inspire students to find their individual style and allow them to depict a story/ emotion/ moment/ idea with artistic clarity and confidence. Illustration briefs will present many conceptual challenges to allow for a breadth of discovery. Students will explore a range of traditional media to develop their drawing and rendering techniques in response to visual challenges aimed to train the eye, bolster the imagination and enable the evolution of individual expression.
