Studio Practice 2

Course Code: VADA 156

Academic Year: 2024-2025

Experiential and experimental drawing is a complex, energetic and ever contemporary activity. This course serves a variety of purposes: from accurate description to informal notation; from social commentary to playful, inventive meandering; from psychological revelation to dramatic impact. The course reinforces further a structure and practice of contemporary drawing and artmaking which is based on both observation of the visual world and a growing awareness of visual language independently or through collaborations. For the visual artist, drawing is the core of interpreting our experiences and this course will enable students to speak in a voice like no other art form. Students will be encouraged to think conceptually through implementing fragile material. It will also be a cumulative learning experience through the creation of subjective and objective drawing forms in various mediums and techniques, extended methods in drawing, installation, and collaboration in investigating the established elements of art.
