This course provides an experiential and investigative approach to the contemporary field of the visual arts. This course is designed to identify key areas of critical and creative concern in art practice to provide an understanding of the expectations and emerging debates facing artist entrepreneurs. Special attention will be paid to informing students of evolving industry standards around public presentation, technology, community development, access, and ethically sound practices in the arts. Students engage with key industry players from various creative industries to facilitate meaningful professional relationships, exposing students to an array of challenges and opportunities that they will encounter after graduating from the program.
