This course provides a comprehensive overview of Virtual Production (VP), beginning with the types of virtual production, differentiating between ICVFX (In-Camera Visual Effects) and real time/in-engine methodologies. Students will be introduced to the large ecosystem, with a particular emphasis on the UE Marketplace and online professional and creative communities. Students will be exposed to the potential for cross-industry applications of VP including the game industry. The course equips students with the skills to identify stories that are well-suited to the VP pipeline and the analytical ability to express the affordances of a narrative in relation to the technical requirements. Students will gain insights into the global VP industry, comprehending the opportunities it presents on an international scale. They will also engage in collaborative online international learning, fostering connections with peers pursuing similar interests and providing a preview of potential future industry collaborations. Professionals in the VP industry will guest speak to students on special topics to provide current advice and expertise. Students will possess a comprehensive understanding of VP, along with the practical knowledge and industry awareness necessary to excel in this evolving field.
