Altering the cycles of unhealthy behaviours is the principal challenge imparted on wellness coaches. Through this course, students develop abilities to use preventive and proactive behaviour change strategies for individuals. Students explore and apply an array of useful theories and practices to positively impact lifelong wellbeing. They take on the role of wellness coaches to develop skills in appreciative inquiry, interprofessional collaboration and evidence appraisal, while empowering self-advocacy and self-management. Students analyze specific case studies, highlighting relevant determinants of health as key considerations in the selection of appropriate behaviour change strategies, which may include virtual or distance approaches.
