The On-Campus Internship provides practical experience for students to apply their learning to the working environment. The internship course encourages students to develop concrete and realistic goals for the application of new skills based on the needs of the current workplace. This is the first of three internships built into the program. This experience allows students to practice and develop their skills in areas such as fitness testing, exercise prescription, counseling and coaching clients to meet their fitness and lifestyle goals. Through the experience with a client, students also learn the importance of the communication process, motivational interviewing, emotional intelligence, active listening, and verbal/non-verbal communication.
