Field Experience - Hospitality and Tourism Operations Management

This important component of the Hospitality & Tourism Operations Management post graduate program will provide the student with the final hands-on practical exposure to the tourism & hospitality industry and the opportunity to specialize in their chosen career focus. It consists of an eight - week training placement in an approved sector of the student's choice, and is based on a 32-hour training week (total of 256 hours). Students will have an opportunity to observe and learn from experienced personnel in a real life working setting, while integrating a competency based internship schedule as a framework for learning. Students have the support of our internship coordinator and are able to apply to a variety of tourism and hospitality industry partners. They also have the opportunity to self-identify an employer for an approved internship. This work placement will take place after the second semester has concluded.
