The field experience course provides students with hands-on practical exposure to the culinary industry. The course provides students with the opportunity to train under certified professionals with an approved industry partner. Students will have an opportunity to observe and learn from experienced personnel in a real-life work setting, while integrating a competency-based working template as a framework for learning. Students are encouraged to apply skills and implement knowledge learned in the classroom to the needs of the current workplace. They are also required to work a minimum of 220 hours over a 7-week period while communicating with their advisor and tracking their progress for evaluation.
